Your Wings Are Ready

Typically, this time of year represents a time of renewal. New flowers blooming, new buds on the trees, a new (well, old but freshly pulled out of the back of my closet) wardrobe. I find it natural for me to embrace the renewal, but I tend to do it in a more passive way. I watch, observe and occasionally take a deep breath feeling refreshed in what lies ahead.

Isaiah 40:31

But it doesn’t seem to compare to how I feel as I watch the end of the school year approach. Particularly for seniors or those making significant life transitions. Now those rights of passage, those are when I want to say, “you are ready.” I want each of those individuals to know I’m excited to watch them grow and flourish. I want them to know I’m cheering them on, along with Jesus. And that Jesus will be their biggest advocate. It’s time, they are ready.

You see, it’s their time to shine. This is the perfect time, particularly for seniors {although I don’t have one… yet, I am paying close attention as I prepare}. It’s a time of exploration, a time of risk, a time to trudge forward confidently into the unknown. An ideal time to test the waters because over the next few years, if the risks become too great and the challenges are overwhelming, they can always come home. Fear doesn’t need to stop them. Someday, I’ll tell my children they are ready, but they can always come home.

And just then it hit me. It’s not just their time. It’s all of ours. When we have our foundation grounded in Christ, it’s always the right time to spread our wings. We’re ready. Just take that chance, because if things go wrong, we have a place to return to. He is not only on the journey with us, but we can always go home, to the arms of Jesus. We can rest our wings and prepare to fly again. It’s our trust that affirms He will lift us up, and make sure that our wings will carry us to great places. As a matter of fact, the greatest of places.

So as this time of year brings beautiful flowers and chirping baby birds, it will also bring new opportunities as life always does. But this time… let’s be brave. Let’s find that one thing we’ve been afraid of and let’s spread our wings. Let’s trust in the Lord for strength. Let’s spread our wings and soar. He won’t let us down, with trust in Him our wings are always ready.

Relevant Scripture: “But those who trust in the Lord will find new strength. They will soar high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint.” Isaiah 40:31

Lord, we celebrate new opportunities and a refreshing journey. But this time, we ask for the strength to trust you and the confidence to believe our wings are ready; knowing you will guide our flight and we can always find rest in You. Amen.

    1. Hey friend… you mentioned “referring to this regularly” – so I’m circling back. I want to remind you again, that Jesus and I see your wings and they are beautifully made with detail and perfection. Trust them… as delicate as they are, they are strong and can launch you to new heights. Dont ever doubt that. You have a Saviour who took the cross so that faith could be permanently in your heart. Have faith. Your wings are ready… love you.
